Subcutaneous (SubQ) Injection

The most common way to inject peptides. A thin insulin needle into the fat layer — quick, easy, and nearly painless.

What You Need

  • Reconstituted peptide vial (refrigerated)
  • Insulin syringe (1mL, 29–31 gauge)
  • Alcohol swabs (2 — one for vial, one for skin)
  • Sharps container for used needles

Belly (Abdomen) Injection

The lower abdomen is the most popular SubQ injection site. Use the area around your belly button, staying at least 2 inches away from the navel in any direction.

  1. Clean the vial top with an alcohol swab. Draw the correct number of units from the peptide vial using your insulin syringe.
  2. Choose your spot — lower-left or lower-right abdomen, 2+ inches from your belly button. Avoid the belt line and any moles or scars.
  3. Clean the injection site with a fresh alcohol swab. Let it air dry completely (injecting into wet alcohol stings).
  4. Pinch a fold of skin using your non-dominant hand. Pinch about 1–2 inches of skin and fat between your thumb and index finger.
  5. Insert the needle at a 45-degree angle with a smooth, quick motion. Don't hesitate — a quick insertion hurts less.
  6. Inject slowly — push the plunger down steadily over 3–5 seconds. Rushing can cause bruising.
  7. Hold for 5 seconds after the plunger is fully depressed. This ensures all the peptide is delivered.
  8. Withdraw and release — pull the needle straight out, then release the skin fold. Apply gentle pressure with a clean swab. Do not rub.
  9. Dispose — immediately place the used syringe in your sharps container.

Thigh Injection

The outer mid-thigh is your other main SubQ option. Use the outer area of the thigh, about halfway between your knee and hip.

  1. Sit down with your leg relaxed and slightly extended.
  2. Identify the injection zone — the outer middle third of your thigh. Avoid the inner thigh and the area directly above the knee.
  3. Clean the site with an alcohol swab. Let it dry.
  4. Pinch a fold of skin and fat on the outer thigh.
  5. Insert at a 45-degree angle and inject slowly.
  6. Hold for 5 seconds, withdraw, and dispose of the syringe.

Tips for Beginners

  • Relax the area — tense muscles make injection harder. Take a breath and relax before inserting the needle.
  • Let alcohol dry — injecting into wet alcohol causes a sting. Wait 10 seconds after swabbing.
  • Don't reuse needles — even once dulls the tip significantly, causing more pain and infection risk.
  • Rotate sites — never inject in the same spot twice in a row. Alternate left/right and belly/thigh.
  • Small bruise or red dot is normal — this is common and usually disappears within a day or two.
